Jannik Sinner's Brother Mark and the Sinner Family

Jannik Sinner has one sibling, an older brother named Mark (also spelled Marc) Sinner. Mark was born in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, in 1998. His path to the Sinner family began when Johann and Siglinde Sinner, believing they were unable to have biological children of their own, decided to adopt. They welcomed Mark into their home when he was just nine months old. A few years later, the couple unexpectedly conceived Jannik, who was born in August 2001. While Jannik went on to become a world-class professional tennis player, Mark chose a career path outside of sports. He currently works as a fire brigade instructor at the provincial fire prevention school in Vilpiano, northern Italy, and prefers to live a quiet life away from the public spotlight.

The brothers were raised in the German-speaking region of South Tyrol in northern Italy. Their parents, Johann (commonly known as Hanspeter) Sinner and Siglinde Sinner (née Rauchegger), are Italian nationals. For many years, the couple worked together at the Talschlusshutte ski lodge in Sexten (Sesto Pusteria), Italy. Hanspeter worked as a chef at the lodge, while Siglinde worked as a waitress. The demanding schedules of their parents meant the brothers learned independence early on. This independence proved crucial for Jannik, who left the family home at the age of 13 or 14 to focus entirely on his tennis training.

Although Jannik's career took him away from home at a young age, his family has remained supportive. In early 2023, his father, Hanspeter Sinner (born in 1964), joined Jannik's professional tennis team. Starting in April 2023, Hanspeter began traveling with his son to prepare meals, serving as the team's personal chef. This role allowed the father to support Jannik directly on the tour while utilizing his professional culinary background.

Back in their hometown of Sexten (Sesto Pusteria), the Sinner family maintains a strong connection to their community. They operate a holiday home called "Haus Sinner," which welcomes visitors to the scenic northern Italian region. This business allows the family to continue their long-standing tradition of working in hospitality, even as Jannik competes on the global stage.

The geographic and cultural setting of South Tyrol played a significant role in the family's life. Being from a German-speaking province in northern Italy, the Sinners raised their children with a strong connection to the local alpine environment. The Talschlusshutte ski lodge, where Johann and Siglinde spent years working, is located in the mountain community of Sexten. This background in the hospitality and service industry in Sesto Pusteria laid the foundation for the family's later venture, 'Haus Sinner.' Operating this holiday home allows the family to maintain their local roots while Jannik travels globally for his tennis career.
